The sub-varsity boys basketball team hosted South Hills in a non-district match up during the thanksgiving break. Both teams came away with big wins going into turkey day.
The freshman A team jumped out to an early 22-7 lead after one quarter of play. Their stiffiling defense led to many transition points. The momentum continued for the Spartans throughout the contest and Centennial walked away with a 77-19 victory over the scorpions.
Mason Green and Logan Taylor lead Centennial with 11 points each. Guerlain Huffman added 10 points along with several steals.
The 9A team will return to action Friday, November 29th in the Mansfield Legacy tournament.
The Junior Varsity squad got off to a slow start in their afternoon contest versus the Scorpions, but their shots starting falling in the second quarter of play as they combined for 30 points in the quarter taking a 47-18 lead going into the half. The Spartan attack continued throughout the game with Centennial sealing the 88-28 win.
Cedric Cotton led all scorers with 14 points, by going 4-4 from the 3 point line. Max Brunken and Jordan Weeks tossed in 13 points a piece and Nicholas Schoonover added 11 points in the victory.
The Junior Varsity team returns to action December 11th at Dallas Madison. Tip-off is set for 6:30 pm.
