Spartans Win Home Opener
– Burleson, TX
The Spartans of Centennial High School opened their 1st home game with a win versus Frisco – Leadership Prep School (97 – 37). In front of its 1st home crowd, the #15 ranked Spartans extended their win streak to 6-games.
Centennial got out to a fast start and controlled the game from start to finish, paced by the early hot shooting of SR – Jacob Stuckey and JR – Jeb Tobin as they both hit a pair 3-point shots as the Spartans ended the 1st Quarter 26 – 9.
The 2nd Quarter was much like the 1st in that the Spartans came out racing the ball up the floor and in full attack mode. Their defense came out swarming and created many opportunities for them to get out and run. SR – Zach Bolf led the 2nd Quarter surge as he scored 10 of 14-points in the quarter. Centennial ended the half with 53 – 24 lead.
2nd Half proved to be the most impressive, as the Spartans dialed back their pressure and focused on their half court defense. The swarming style, really suffocated the Lions of Leadership Prep as the Spartans held to only 4-points in the quarter. SR – Marek Kerr found his stride defending, rebounding and sprinting the floor as his teammates found him over and over again for baskets as he scored 11 of his game high 18-points in the 3rd Quarter. Centennial ended the quarter with a 79 – 28 lead.
Closing the game, the Spartans went deep into its bench and SO – Bryce Robinson scored a quick 6 of his 8-points early in the 4th Quarter. Helped by the defensive pressure of SR – Nathaniel Schoonover, the Spartans extended their lead and eventually closed the game 97 – 37.
The Spartans are back in action Tuesday – November 26th versus FW South Hills at Spartan Arena – Centennial High School at 2:00pm.
