Senior Salute: #22 Monte Johnson
– September 3rd, 2019
We are 7-weeks out from the start of the 2019-2020 basketball season and the 1st official practice (October 30th). The Spartan Hoops basketball program will be spotlighting and celebrating it’s 7-senior members each week leading up to the start of the season.
In week 1, we would like to introduce Senior – #22 Monte Johnson. Monte is the son of Michael and Cheryl Johnson and comes to us from Missouri City (Mo-City), TX in the Southwest area of Houston, TX by way of Fort Bend – Ridge Point High School.
Monte is a multi-sport athlete who has excelled on the gridiron, the hardwood and the track & field arenas. the 2018-2019 school year saw Monte be a very key member to the success of all of the sports programs he participated in. Starting at TE for the Centennial football team, he helped lead them 4-rounds deep into the playoffs and setting a school record in wins in a season.
Monte also played the enforcer role and was a key member of our leadership group within the basketball program. His toughness, high energy and selflessness helped lead the basketball program to a Bi-District Championship & School Record – Wins in a Season (24).
Simply put, Monte is a WINNER and it is by no accident that the programs he is part of has had so much success and why Universities such as Western Colorado, Wyoming, UNT, and Kansas State has taken an interest in his services.
We, Spartan Hoops, really look forward to seeing his growth in both football and basketball this season as we know success will be following very close.
