Academic Excellence & High Character

The Centennial High School Boy’s Basketball Program functions off of the motto – No Accidents and it is by no accident that soon-to-be graduates, Caleb Werner and Zane Elliott, are who they are and have achieved what they have achieved.

Faith and Academics plays a strong role in the make up of these two young men and how they were raised. Growing up in two separate families but with common core values have strengthened, grown, and matured these two beyond their 18-years of age. They care, they are honest, they are selfless, and they are workers. All qualities that make them very deserving of any and all success that is and will come their way.

In a word it is easy to describe these guys as GRINDERS. Both being born with the intellectual capacity to retain knowledge at a high level but still possess the discipline and maturity to work and grind as hard as they do in the classroom only validates their Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) – Academic All State honors as well as Zane and Caleb’s academic #23 and #34 class ranking respectively. Their academic success again is by no accident and their impact on the Spartans athletic success was not either.

Spartan Hoops wants to spotlight these two young men and thank these young men as graduation nears and they are no longer strolling the halls of Centennial High School making people smile and laugh or giving me, Coach Jackson, a really hard time due to my follicular shortcomings, explaining to me the stock market, or just having a good old conversation about faith, loving people, and being thankful for everything (good and bad).

They have had such a profound impact on the culture of Centennial High School and the Spartan Hoops program. It is through their efforts on and off the floor that has garnered them the highest levels of respect amongst their peers and teammates.

This is my thank you to them and my giving them their roses while they can still smell them. Congratulations on your Academic All-State Awards and thank you for being great teammates and brothers to us all, we wish you all so much more success.
