Boys Varsity Wrestling, Girls Varsity Wrestling · Spartan Wrestlers Make History at District Tournament

History was made Thursday as the Spartan Wrestling Team hosted the 5A District 6 Championships. The boys wrestling team had 14 tournament placers out of the 14 possible weight classes. This is the first time in program history of accomplishing the feat of qualifying 14 wrestlers to the Regional tournament, a rare occurrence in high school wrestling. They are sending every boys varsity wrestler to next round, the 5A Region 2 Championships hosted at Frisco Wakeland High School on February 15 and 16. Top 4 placers at the Regional will advance to the UIL State Tournament in Cypress, Tx the following week. The girls wrestling team also qualified 6 athletes to the Regional Championships in Frisco. Out of 10 roster spots, the Spartans brought only 6 girls to the District tournament with each taking home a placement medal.

The Spartan Wrestling Team also claimed 6 individual titles; 5 boys titles and 1 girls title.
