The boys sub-varsity basketball teams traveled to Crowley to take on the Eagles in a district showdown Tuesday night.
The Freshman A team battled throughout the game. Both teams continued to trade baskets down the stretch, but the Eagles were able to make some clutch free throws late in the fourth to put the game away. Crowley beat the Spartans by a final score of 71-65.
Centennial was lead in scoring by Cedric Cotton who had 19 points. Braden Elrod scored 17 points and Kamryon Johnson threw in 10 points in the defeat.
The junior varsity squad took an early lead in the game, but Crowley fought back in the second quarter to even the score at 31 going into the half. The third period remained close with both teams scrapping away on the defensive end. The Spartans inability to connect on several shots around the rim proved too much to overcome. Centennial dropped the game to Crowley by a final score of 62-54.
Keryn Collins lead Centennial with 18 points while Preston Tabor threw in 13 points in the loss.
Both teams will host Mansfield Legacy in their final home game of the season Friday night. The JV will tip-off at 5:00 pm and the Freshman A will play at 6:30 pm.
