Multiple Teams · Hot Shooting Not Enough for Spartans

Spartans Lose on the Road

The Centennial Spartans took on the Trinity Christian Tigers on Tuesday evening, in Cedar Hill, TX.
The Spartans slow first half start proved to be too much to come back from though in the road loss to Trinity Christian. The 1st half 9-point deficit put the Spartans in a hole that their hot shooting was not enough for.
With the Tigers’ leading almost the entire game, the Spartans stormed back in the 4th quarter to cut the Tiger lead to 4-points behind the hot shooting of Junior – Tayton Conerway (23-points) and Senior – Nate Adcox (22-points).
The collective tempo of the game really picked up in the 2nd half especially in the fourth quarter, when the Spartan pressure started to really cause problems for Trinity Christian. This defensive resurgence was led by none other than Senior – Caleb Werner. Werner’s energy and toughness is proving to be a huge catalyst for all things positive with the Spartans.
As the Spartans are continuing to grow with every game played, their resilience and knowledge of who and what they are as a team becomes more clear. Their competitive toughness and resilience is foundational to the upward trajectory of this young team 0 by way of varsity playing experience.
Major keys to the Spartans successes and failures lies with two key statistics: Rebounding and Turnovers, in which the Spartans were out-rebounded by a significant margin and their signature pressure forced turnovers but they were unable to convert at a high enough clip.
The Spartans take a (10-4) Non-District Record on the road as they open District 5-5A play in Everman, TX versus Everman High School on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at 7:30pm.
