The Centennial Spartans freshman basketball team hosted Dallas Madison on Tuesday evening in a close contest.
The Centennial pressure got to the Trojans early creating a 19-14 lead after the first quarter with Jordan Weeks pouring in 11 points in the quarter. Madison battled back with a strong second quarter to take a three point lead going into the half. The Spartans got off to a fast start in the second half with Cedric Cotton and Oscar Corrales leading the Spartan charge. The 4th quarter run by the Trojans proved too much for Centennial by surrendering 23 points in the final period to fall short with a 63-56 loss. Weeks lead the Spartans in scoring with 17 points.
The Spartan freshman team will return to action in the Decatur tournament on Friday night at 7:00 pm against Wichita Falls Rider.
The Centennial Spartans junior varsity basketball squad took on the Trojans of Dallas Madison at Spartan Arena on Tuesday night.
The Spartans got off to a sluggish start in the first half and went into halftime with a two point deficit. Centennial picked up the pace in the 3rd quarter with a 19-4 run lead by Keryn Collins and Kyan Mcneal. The Spartans never looked back in the final period by holding Madison to 6 points in the 46-27 victory.
Collins lead Centennial in scoring with 19 points while Mcneal pitched in 8 points for the Spartans.
The Spartan JV squad will return to action on Thursday as they play two games at 8:30 am and 4:00 pm in the Decatur tournament.
