Hunter Leads Spartans Past Madison
Tonight, Centennial Spartan Basketball faced a well coached and very young Madison High (Dallas) team at home and used it’s pressure defense to pull out a win.
The Spartans capitalized early and often off of Trojan turnovers. Multiple quick early turnovers led to a hot shooting start and a big halftime lead of 46 – 27. The Spartans went up by as much as 40 points in the game but the Trojans marched back using its three-point shooting and quickness in transition to get the game back under 30, capitalizing on the Spartans miscues defensively.
The Spartans were led offensively by Senior – Anthony Hunter who had a big night shooting 13/15 from the field and finishing with a game high 29-points. Hunter moves closer to the 1000 point scoring mark with this outburst, as he now has scored over 800 points for his high school career.
Also contributing to the Spartans 90 point explosion was JUNIORS – Zach Bolf (14-points 9-rebounds), Tayton Conerway (11-points 5-rebounds 4-assist), and Jacob Stuckey (9-points 5-rebounds). Other major contributions came from SENIORS – Nate Adcox who chipped in with 10-points, hitting 2/4 shots from 3-Point range and Caleb Werner who’s energy and 9-points off the bench was contagious for the Spartans.
The Spartans move to 6-2 Overall and look forward to building off of its solid start and hot shooting as they compete in the Decatur Invitational Basketball Tournament – Decatur, TX – this weekend (Dec. 6-8th).
Thursday afternoon at 2:30p the Spartans take on OK City Storm and at 8:30p they play Krum High School.
